Rivers are natural flowing bodies of water. Rivers flow towards an ocean, a lake, a sea or another river. They are made of freshwater. Rivers are larger than streams and brooks. Rivers can flow down mountains and through valleys. They can even carve canyons and gorges. Then end of the river is called a mouth.
The largest river in the world is the Amazon River in South America. It helps support the animal and plant life of the Amazon rain forest. Below is a bird's eye view of the river.
